Juan Manuel Marquez Foot Stopper Trick Video

Days had passed and the Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 3 fight is still being talked about by boxing fans. Each day, fans come up with something to talk about besides the outcome.

Recently, there are pictures and videos showing Juan Manuel Marquez stepping on the foot of Manny Pacquiao.  Many fans especially Manny Pacquiao fans were angered by this tactic if it is indeed a tactic.  It’s been labeled as the Juan Manuel Marquez Foot Stopper Trick.

Here is the so called Juan Manuel Marquez Food Stopper Trick Video:

To be honest, I dont think it’s in the nature of Juan Manuel Marquez to cheat in his fights, especially in this fight against Manny Pacquiao.  I do think that the stepping of the foot is NOT intentional and NOT a tactic.   It is an accident I suppose just like headbutts, which is bound to happen when an orthodox boxer faces a southpaw.

That is my take on the so called Juan Manuel Marquez Foot Stopper Trick Video.  So what is your opinion on the video above?  Is it intentional or not?

UFC 139: Shogun Rua vs Dan Henderson Video

Look who’s back! Dan Henderson is returning to UFC for the second time after demolishing the fighter we thought was invincible, Fedor Emelianenko. He will be fighting Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua.

The Shogun Rua vs Dan Henderson fight details according to UFC is as follows:

What:    UFC 139: Shogun vs Henderson
When:   Saturday, November 19, 2011
Where:  HP Pavilion San Jose, CA

Why you should watch Mauricio Shogun Rua vs Dan Henderson Full Fight Video?

Dan Henderson is coming of a big win against Fedor Emelianenko, in which he knocked out after only a round. On the other hand, Shogun is coming off a big KO win against Forrest Griffin, the man who spoiled his UFC debut. Shogun KO’d Griffin in just one round as well.

I believe that the Shogun vs Henderson fight will be more on a stand up fight, as both have knock out punching power. Also, if Shogun decided to take the fight on the ground, it will be difficult to do so as Dan Henderson has a great take down defense.

Cain Velasquez vs Junior Dos Santos Post Fight Thoughts

Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos squared off the same day Manny Pacquiao fought Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time. If you are a fight fan, you are kinda torn in which fight you have to watch. In my case, it is obvious that I will be watching Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez as I am a proud Filipino.

I knew the result of the fight before I had the chance to watch it, which actually did not surprise me as these two great heavyweights is capable of ending the fight anytime. It depends who made the mistake first, in which Cain Velasquez did. He lowered his hands and Junior Dos Santos threw a huge right which knocked down Velasquez. Dos Santos did not waste any time and immediately finish Velasquez off with hammer fists.

The effect of ring rust probably got to Cain Velasquez in this fight. His last fight was against Brock Lesnar, whom he had taken the UFC Heavyweight Championship, and that fight was a year ago.  Nevertheless, props to Junior Dos Santos for winning the UFC Heavyweight Title and giving Velasquez’s first loss of his career.

It was a great night for fight fans as we saw two great events. Next week would be UFC 139: Shogun vs Henderson, and I can’t wait to see these two great fighters go at it inside the Octagon.

Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 3 Post Fight Thoughts

Another epic battle between two of the greatest boxers in the world today.  Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez fought again yesterday to a very close match, with Manny Pacquiao clinching the victory via a somewhat controversial majority decision.

Up until today, fans have been talking about how the fight was awarded to Manny Pacquiao, that Juan Manuel Marquez deserve the win.  To be honest, as I watch the fight live in SM Cinema, I thought that Juan Manuel Marquez did enough to win the fight.  So how come the judges give the fight to Manny Pacquiao?

I want to find the answer myself so I tried watching Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 3 again as objectively as I could.  To my surprise, after tallying all the scores from rounds 1-12, I had Manny Pacquiao winning 115-113, just as the same score from one of the judges.

How I come up with the scores?  Here is the breakdown of what I thought for every round.  I am no boxing expert, just a thought from a long time boxing fan.

At the opening round,  I saw Manny Pacquiao initiating the action more and more active than Juan Manuel Marquez, though Marquez is trying to counterpunch in every attack.

In round 2, Marquez started counter punching effectively.  The only punch that I saw that effectively landed from Pacquiao was a left hand.

Good counter punching again by JMM in round 3, however, Pacquiao is initiating the action.  He is the aggressor.  It was a very close round in my opinion until Manny Pacquiao landed a hard counter right hook which stopped the attack of Marquez and probably had him hurt.

Manny’s left hand beginning to land in round 4.  It landed a number of times which probably earn Manny Pacquiao the round.  The only clear punch that I saw from Marquez was the counter right just before the bell.

JMM started to dominate Manny Pacquiao in round 5, boxing very beautifully.  He is landing hard counter right and Pacquiao is getting owned in this round.  It continues through round 6 and 7, while Pacquiao is getting aggressive in every round, Marquez is landing the clearer shots.   Round 8 is a very close round which I gave to Marquez as well.

At round 9, Manny Pacquiao is getting aggressive by the minute.  Though Marquez landed some counter punches, the round went to Pacquiao as he threw a number of punches and landing some to Marquez face.

Pacquiao continues his aggressiveness throughout rounds 10 and 11 with his in and out motion.  This is the kind of ‘Manny Pacquiao’ we saw from his previous fights.

At the start of the 12th round, I got a feeling that Marquez will just hang out as he thought that he is winning in the scorecard, which I thought too.  Manny Pacquiao continues to be the aggressor trying to snatch the last round, which I thought he did.

As I scored the fight,  I really thought that Juan Manuel Marquez won the match.  After adding up the scorecards,  I am kinda surprised that Pacquiao got the fight with the score of 115-113 .  It turned out had Marquez made an effort to win the 12th round, it could have been a draw.  But he did not do so which cost him the fight.  Many boxing analysts also said that the 12th round cost JMM the fight.  We probably used in seeing Manny decimating his opponents.  Though he did not hurt Marquez that bad, the judges gave Pacquiao the nod.  With this, I am convinced that our very own Manny Pacquiao indeed deserve the majority decision and the win.

So what’s next for Pacquiao?

I believe that Manny Pacquiao needs to get used in fighting counter punchers especially if the fight with Floyd Mayweather will happen.  He must learn how to cut the ring more often.  In his third fight against Marquez, he just followed Marquez mostly throughout the fight, which made it easy for Marquez to counter.

Nevertheless, It was a great match and I don’t mind seeing these two great boxers fighting again for the fourth time.

Cain Velasquez vs Junior Dos Santos Video

Why you should watch Cain Velasquez vs Junior Dos Santos Full Fight?

Cain Velasquez is still undefeated in his MMA career and is knocking out opponent by opponent, including the former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. Both fighters have good striking ability and has the capability to finish the fight. This fight will surely be explosive.

Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 3 Videos

Manny Pacquiao will be defending again his WBO World Welterweight Title against his long time rival, Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico. This will be their third fight, with Manny Pacquiao leading the score with one win and a draw.

Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 3 Fight details according to Top Rank is as follows:

When:  Saturday, November 12, 2011
Where: MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada
What:   Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 3

Why you must watch Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 3 Fight?

These two great fighters first fought to a controversial draw last 2004.  They went on to have their second fight last 2008, and end up again in a controversial fashion with Manny Pacquiao winning via Split Decision.  These two fighters fought evenly and it is indeed very hard to judge their two previous fights.  This fight could probably end the debate on who’s the better fighter between the two.

I am a Filipino and I will be biased here.   I believe Marquez has the style that poses difficulty to Pacquiao.  However,  I hope that Manny Pacquiao will prove once and for all that he is the better fighter than Juan Manuel Marquez.

Mark Munoz ready to take on Anderson Silva?

With the impressive win of Mark Munoz against Chris Leben at UFC 138, many think that it is the right time for him to have a title shot against the UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva.

Mark Munoz showed that he can please fight fans by going toe to toe against a dangerous fighter  last Saturday. He utilized his wrestling skills pretty well taking Chris Leben down.  He overwhelm Chris Leben with his ground and pound skills in which he is known for. Though there are times that Leben lands solid punches to the face of Munoz, he was able to compose himself and went back to his game plan.

However, I believe that he is not yet ready to face against a fighter as dangerous as Anderson Silva.  I think that there are still works to be done especially if you are going to face the UFC Middleweight Champion.  Chris Leben is a very tough fighter, however, he is more on toe to toe fighter.  He does not back down to exchanges, which backfired last Saturday. On the other hand, Anderson Silva is somehow elusive and has a very supreme skills on the ground. Mark Munoz has not yet fought a well rounded fighter in my opinion. I want Mark Munoz to fight another one before he fights for the title, probably against Vitor Belfort or Chael Sonnen.  However, Sonnen is looking for a rematch against Anderson Silva and probably will be getting it in the near future.

BJ Penn Should Not Yet Retire

After the recent fight of BJ Penn against Nick Diaz, he fully expressed that he will no longer fight and it will be the last time we will see him inside the Octagon.  He said that he has a new baby coming and he does not want to go home with a battered face.

Why he should not yet retire?

I believe that the only problem he got on the fight during  his fight against Nick Diaz was his cardio.  He was doing pretty well on the first round.  I even gave the first round to him.

BJ Penn took out the reach advantage of Nick Diaz on the first round, boxing beautifully.  Both fighters landing hard punches until BJ took down in which Nick Diaz defended nicely.  But as soon as I saw BJ Penn returned to his corner after the first round, I knew that he has nothing left in his gas tank.  He looks very tired and gasping heavily for air.

At the start of second round, Nick Diaz, sensing BJ is very tired, launched a brutal attack.  BJ Penn in return, did not do any offense, trying to block and get away from the punches of Nick Diaz.  Also, Nick Diaz did not hesitate to attack the body of BJ Penn, which probably took more air out of BJ.

On the third round, though Nick Diaz is trying to overwhelm a very tired BJ, I can still see Nick Diaz getting hit hard in the face.  I am actually surprised that Nick Diaz was not able to finish BJ Penn on the second round.

I want BJ Penn to have one more fight before calling it a career.  And I really want to see BJ Penn fight for the last time.
